Ubuntu: ACLs are ignored completely in (x?)ubuntu (16.04 + 16.10)

I know, there are several threads about similar behaviours without solutions for my problem. My nearly not tweaked xubuntu installation ignores ACLs. I can create and edit them without any effect.

1) ACLs are active (by default ext4 volume)

sebastian@xubuntupad:/home/Shared/Media$ sudo tune2fs -l /dev/sda8 |grep acl  Default mount options:    user_xattr acl

2) ACLs are set for a specific folder

sebastian@xubuntupad:/home/Shared/Media$ getfacl /home/Shared/Media/Music  getfacl: Entferne führende '/' von absoluten Pfadnamen  # file: home/Shared/Media/Music  # owner: syncthing  # group: staff  user::rwx  group::r-x  mask::r-x  other::---  default:user::rwx  default:user:sebastian:rwx  default:group::r-x  default:mask::rwx  default:other::---

3) ACLs are ignored

sebastian@xubuntupad:/home/Shared/Media$ touch newfile touch: 'newfile' kann nicht berührt werden: Keine Berechtigung

What the heck is going on here - ACLs are completely ignored (really every tool/app/bin), no matter which way I try to include or exclude users/groups. I also tried mount with ACLs on explicitly, which made no difference.
