Ubuntu: Running into an error while installing Android Studio

Question:

So I am working on installing android studio onto Ubuntu 15.04. I followed the guide here at

http://android-er.blogspot.com/2014/07/install-oracle-jdk-8-on-ubuntu-1404.html

to install the JDK and when I type javac and java it seems to point to the correct place. I put the java folder that I unpacked at

/home/nick/jdk1.8.0_45

and then proceeded to download the latest version of android studio and unpacked it to

/home/nick/android-studio

I then cded into

/home/nick/android-studio/bin

and ran ./studio.sh which should have launched the installer. Instead I got

nick@Ubuntu-PC:~/android-studio/bin$ ./studio.sh Picked up JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS: -javaagent:/usr/share/java/jayatanaag.jar Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM warning: ignoring option MaxPermSize=250m; support was removed in 8.0 Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class java.awt.Toolkit at java.awt.Component.<clinit>(Component.java:593) at com.intellij.idea.Main.showMessage(Main.java:241) at com.intellij.idea.Main.showMessage(Main.java:228) at com.intellij.idea.Main.main(Main.java:87)

Thoughts?

Solution:1

I ended up solving this by replacing the version of Java that I had downloaded from 32 bit to 64 bit

Solution:2

I think here is the correct solution for this problem. For you and other people who are facing the same problem.
