Ubuntu: How to recover dpkg from corrupted downloads?

Question:

I just upgraded to the 10.10 RC earlier and had a few problems with graphic drivers (x didnt start) But i have remedied that now. When i run 'sudo apt-get install -f' i get this:

Any idea how i can get the broken packages fixed? Cheers, Will

Solution:1

This line is a clue:

xz: (stdin): Compressed data is corrupt

Perhaps something happened to the .deb during transfer. Execute a sudo apt-get clean and then try again to force it to redownload the debs.

There are similar reports in Launchpad on these kind of errors for OpenOffice lately. This is likely a bug and should be reported as such.
